A bird bath dripper makes an excellent addition to your bird bath. A dripper can be a simple pipe that hooks on to the edge of the bird bath to drip water slowly into the bowl. More elaborate drippers are shaped like butterflies, dragonflies, climbing ivy or other designs and made from attractive copper or other metal.
A dripper will agitate the water constantly and prevent mosquitoes laying their eggs. The gentle dripping sounds will attract the birds who will come to the bird bath to drink or bathe. They also love the feeling of raindrops on their feathers so will often indulge in a rain bath from the dripper. If you want to attract smaller birds, hummingbirds or warblers choose a mister rather than a dripper. A mister however will use up more water than a dripper.
